All told, new car sales accounted for 29 percent of overall auto sales to residents of Aurora, totaling 581 of the 2010 overall auto sales in the month. Chevrolet and Nissan followed Honda to round out the list of the top three auto brands bought new by residents in June. Residents of Aurora bought 98 new Honda vehicles in the month, and also purchased 65 new Chevrolet cars, and 62 new Nissan vehicles.
Used auto purchases accounted for 71 percent of auto sales, bringing in 1429 of the 2010 overall auto sales. Chevrolet led the way as the most popular used auto brand, totaling 212 sales. Ford and Honda also made a good showing in the used car sales category, with 177 and 121 sales, respectively.
Over the course of June, 66 percent of purchases by Aurora residents came through a local dealer, while 34 percent were private party transactions. The 66 percent originating from local car dealers translated to 1325 overall dealership sales in the month.
Carmax Auto Superstores led the way with 66 sales of used cars to Aurora residents in June, trailed by Car Outlet (55 sales) and Dan Wolf Chevrolet of Naperville (24). The three most popular dealers of new cars to Aurora residents in the month were Valley Honda with 75 sales, Toyota of Naperville (38 sales) and Gerald Nissan Subaru of North Aurora (26).
