All told, new car purchases accounted for 24 percent of overall auto sales to Aurora residents, totaling 128 of the 534 overall auto sales in the month. Ford and Nissan followed Honda to round out the list of the top three auto brands bought new by residents in December. Residents purchased a total of 27 new Honda vehicles, 19 new Ford cars, and 14 new Nissan vehicles in the month.
Used auto purchases accounted for 76 percent of auto sales, bringing in 406 of the 534 overall auto sales. Chevrolet led the way as the most popular used auto brand, totaling 61 sales. Ford and Honda came in second and third, respectively, in the used car sales category, with 60 and 35 sales.
Over the course of December, 47 percent of purchases by Aurora residents came through a local dealer, while 53 percent were private party transactions. The 47 percent originating from local car dealers translated to 251 overall dealership sales in the month.
Carmax Auto Superstores (23 sales) sold more used cars to Aurora residents in December than any other dealer, followed by Valley Honda (four) and River View Ford (four). The top three auto dealerships selling new cars to Aurora residents in the month were Valley Honda with 22 sales, Napletons Hyundai of Aurora (seven sales) and Burke Automotive Group (six).
